Between 2012 and 2014 there were an average of 11,585 TBI related Emergency Department visits each year in Queens.
This made Queens the New York borough with the highest total number of TBI related ED visits.
However, when adjusted for population, Queens had an average of 504.4 TBI related ED visits per 100,000 residents — the third highest of all four major New York counties.
Between 2012 and 2014 there were an average of 2,068 TBI related hospitalizations each year in Queens.
This made Queens the New York borough with the second highest total number of TBI related hospitalizations.
However, when adjusted for population, Queens’ average of 90 hospitalizations per 100,000 residents was the third highest of all four major New York counties.
Between 2012 and 2014, an average of 213 deaths each year in Queens were attributed to traumatic brain injury.
This was the second highest total of the major New York counties, and also the second highest when adjusted for population.
