Between 2012 and 2014 there were an average of 9,501 TBI related Emergency Department visits each year in Manhattan.
This made Manhattan the New York borough with the fourth highest total number of TBI related ED visits.
However, when adjusted for population, Manhattan had an average of 583.9 TBI related ED visits per 100,000 residents — the second highest of all four major New York counties.
TBI Related Hospitalizations In Manhattan
Between 2012 and 2014 there were an average of 1524 TBI related hospitalizations each year in Manhattan.
This made Manhattan the New York borough with the fourth highest total number of TBI related hospitalizations.
However, when adjusted for population, Manhattan’s average of 93.7 hospitalizations per 100,000 residents was the second highest of all four major New York counties.
TBI Related Deaths In Manhattan
Between 2012 and 2014, an average of 139 deaths each year in Manhattan were attributed to traumatic brain injury.
This was the fourth highest total of the major New York counties, but the third highest when adjusted for population.
